Now that your new website is up and running, it’s time to make sure everything works as expected—especially the checkout. We’re using Stripe to handle payments securely and reliably, and Stripe offers a handy way to test the checkout without using real money or actual card details.
Below are the test card details you can use to simulate different payment scenarios.
💳 Basic Test Card (Use This First)
To simulate a successful payment:
- Card Number: 4242 4242 4242 4242
- Expiry Date: Any future date (e.g. 12/34)
- CVC: Any 3 digits (e.g. 123)
- Billing Postcode: Any valid postcode (e.g. HG1 2XX)
This will complete checkout as if it were a real transaction, but no actual payment is taken.
🚫 Simulate a Declined Payment
You can also test how your site handles failed payments. Try using this card:
- Card Number: 4000 0000 0000 0002
- This will always be declined.
💥 Test Other Scenarios (Optional)
Stripe offers a variety of test cards for different outcomes. For example:
| Scenario | Card Number |
|---|---|
| Card declined | 4000 0000 0000 9995 |
| Insufficient funds | 4000 0000 0000 9994 |
| Incorrect CVC | 4000 0000 0000 0127 |
| Expired card | 4000 0000 0000 0069 |
You can find the full list of Stripe test cards here, but the basics above should be more than enough for testing your site.
⚠️ Important Notes
- These card numbers only work in test mode—your site is not yet live for real payments.
- You don’t need to worry about fraud or charges when using these test cards—they’re safe and provided by Stripe for this exact purpose.
- Let me know if you see any error messages during testing, and I’ll look into it.
